Rajeev Raghavan and Unmesh Katwate were involved in a study that indicates the high number of potentially undescribed hillstream loach species lurking in the rivers of the northern part of the Western Ghats Biodiversity Hotspot. The results of the study published in METAGENE suggest that there could be between 23 and 31 species of loaches belonging to eight genera and four families that remain undescribed in the region.
